Everybody loves a trip to Wendy’s! In fact, it’s one of the most popular restaurants on the planet, and the range of delicious choices on offer has seen it become the world’s third-largest fast-food chain with over 6,700 locations to choose from.

But has it managed to keep up with the ever-growing demand for plant-based meals? Let’s find out as we take a look at 7 vegan options at Wendy’s.
French Fries
You simply cannot visit a fast food restaurant and not have a portion of french fries! And, luckily, the ones on offer at Wendy’s are 100% vegan.
You might be thinking “Of course they’re vegan, it’s just potatoes!”, but did you know that many fast-food restaurants cook their French fries in animal fat and use the same fryer to cook some animal-based ingredients?
Wendy’s doesn’t do this. Instead, they have a dedicated meat-free fryer and cook all of their French fries in vegetable oil.
They even have a range of delicious dipping sauces to choose from to accompany your fries. These include ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, and their signature salsa.
Homestyle Potatoes
These are included on Wendy’s breakfast menu and, just like the French fries listed above, they are also 100% vegan. And, also like the French fries, you can choose from a range of dipping sauces to accompany your homestyle potatoes.
It is worth noting, however, that Wendy’s homestyle potatoes are cooked in a shared fryer. While this fryer isn’t used for meat products, it is used for cooking products that contain milk, wheat, and fish.
So if you’re concerned about cross-contamination or you suffer from a dairy or wheat allergy, you might want to avoid them.
Plain Baked Potato
Sure, the prospect of eating a plain baked potato doesn’t sound incredibly exciting. But the magic really kicks in when you adorn it with one of Wendy’s vegan baked potato topping choices.
This includes barbecue sauce, signature salsa, avocado, and more. Before you know it you’ve got a delicious meal that is 100% vegan.
Apple Bites
Sometimes the beauty of something lies in its simplicity. This is certainly the case for Wendy’s apple bites. These are exactly what you’d imagine them to be; slices of green and red apples.
These are a great vegan alternative to a traditional dessert, and they are much healthier for you than a sugar-filled treat. It’s a win-win situation!
Garden Salad
Like many restaurants, Wendy’s has introduced the concept of customizing certain meals to make them vegan-friendly. This includes their garden salad. The base is created using iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce, and tomatoes. Ordinarily, it would also include cheese and croutons, but you can simply ask for those to be removed to make it a vegan salad instead!
This doesn’t necessarily mean you’re sacrificing flavor though, and you can choose from several vegan salad dressings to give it an extra kick. These include:
- Fat-Free French
- Italian Vinaigrette
- Pomegranate Vinaigrette
- Red Italian Dressing
Veggie Sandwich
While Wendy’s doesn’t offer a dedicated vegan sandwich, you can create one yourself by ordering a Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe and asking for the meat and cheese to be removed. This leaves you with a sandwich of lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, onions, and ketchup. You can also ask to add avocado in place of the meat to give it even more flavor and some extra bite!
Drinks
Don’t expect to treat yourself to a milkshake at Wendy’s, as there are currently no vegan-friendly alternatives on offer. However, you can still choose from a range of sodas to quench your thirst alongside your vegan meal.
Summary
Wendy’s is one of the best fast-food restaurants for vegans, and with a veggie sandwich, french fries, and apple bites, you’ll be able to create a substantial vegan meal that won’t leave you still feeling hungry at the end!
