Well hello there again my Raw Vegan Lovelies! In this article I’m going to discuss how a Holistic Nutritional Consultation works as I get asked this question often. Many people are familiar with the term ‘nutritional consultant’ but many people are still unsure as to what the ‘holistic’ connotation means, or they are just inquisitive as to how the consultation will help them or how they proceed with making an appointment. In this article, I will explain specifically how my Holistic Nutrition Consultations work and how they can help so that you can gain a better insight to the whole process.
The definition of the word ‘holistic’ is …”care of the entire patient in all aspects of well-being, including physical, psychological, and social“. Personally, I like to add the word spiritual to that list also. We have a complex and intricate bio-system that needs maintaining within a fine balance to keep us well and dis-ease free. Each system that becomes imbalanced eventually has a knock on effect onto our entire body, be it physically, emotionally or spiritually, so the fact is that instead of treating only one symptom or dysfunction, the entire body and energy systems are looked at. Each and every one of us is unique, with a totally different genetic make up. What effects one person may not effect another or a certain individual may be prone to weaknesses that someone else is not. So, the key here is looking at the individual and going straight to the root cause. What is the purpose of treating a symptom or covering it up, only for the client to suffer with the same problem, or worse still, developing into something major down the line because it was not addressed in the first place. The spiritual and emotional aspect is just as important to keep us healthy as I believe our body stores memories from past trauma. When this is not dealt with or released emotionally, the body will finally express this as dysfunction or dis-ease. Hence I use the holistic view of individuality and looking at all systems of the human body to find where the problem(s) lay.
Stage I – Forms
Firstly, a compete medical history is collected, together with the client having to complete a couple of detailed forms which will cover every system of the body including endocrine, nervous, muscular, circulatory, immune, respiratory, reproductive and emotional, energy and spiritual aspects. This will highlight which areas need assistance so we can begin work! There will usually be a 5-7 day waiting period after the forms are completed for the analysis of the forms to take place and then it’s onto Stage II……
Stage II – Initial Consultation (online, Skype, telephone or in person)
The initial consultation takes a little longer than follow-ups – average time 90 mins. I deliver my conclusions from the findings on the forms and we discuss an easy-to-follow plan. I want to emphasise that I strongly advise gradual changes, we do not make big, fast or many changes initially, as a radical change to one’s lifestyle can be overwhelming enough without having too many adjustments too fast. This can be one of the prime reasons clients fall by the wayside or relapse back into old habits.
Stage III – Follow ups
On average, most clients like once a week follow up appointments to continue their plan and execute new changes into their diet and lifestyle. These appointments typically take an hour. Any time a client is facing challenges, has questions or is having a hard time, support will be given throughout the week as well as the consultations. The Follow-up appointments continue as long as the client feels they need the help.
Stage IV – Going it Alone & Support
Once a client feels they have hit a goal and are confident enough to go it alone, regular follow up appointments are no longer necessary, however, at any time support remains. I am also in the process of setting up a social network page so that clients can form a support group of their own.

Whole foods are powerful, and in my opinion have the ability to heal the body from ailments that, for years, can prove stubborn using other methods – I know, because I can personally testify that after years of being on habit-forming prescription medications and progressively deteriorating, I found relief from depression, addiction, pain, nausea, IBS, lethargy, headaches and systemic candidiasis through whole-food. Plant based foods are potent, and consumed in the right potency will feed every cell in your body with the nutrition it needs for vitality, increased energy and health. Read the messages your body is sending you….What does it say? Remember, pain and discomfort can be a gift….without it we rarely have reason to change and evolve…….
